This is 14. The uncompleted map.
This is 14
14 is the uncompleted map. Your “I don't know it was wrong” days are over. You are an expert on everything until you fail. You realize that you are going to have to take care of yourself one day. You think like when you bite off more than you can chew.
14 is where every birthday candle wish is “I wish I had more money” because you spent it all all on things you didn't want after the minute you bought them.
At 14 you routinely leave your house without your lunch. You care more about progress and what you don't have than stopping and enjoying what you do.
14 is the beginning of “Oh no, I have to take care of myself soon.” The beginning of your choices make a difference.
14 is still liking your toys and hating your studying skills. You start to realize that your height now may be the height for the rest of your life. You realize that you may not change much before you are all grown up.
14 is becoming an adult but still a child at heart. You start to take up some responsibilities of your own but still play games all day.
At 14 your tolerance for homework is high, but your tolerance for your brother is lower. Your brother annoys you but you realize that you were just like him not to long ago.
14 is ful for feeling moments of joy and wonder. You don't know everything and realize you never will but you don't care, because you know you are the best you can be.
It is yelling at your brother for changing the TV to cartoons. It is waking up 15 minutes before school starts. It is doing your homework on the car ride to school.
14 is constantly being late for school. You don't have breakfast because sleep is more important to you. Long car rides become shorter and short car rides become longer.
It is a growing tree that is not to the top of the forest....yet. You know you will get there one day but you don't know when and you don't want to wait.
At 14, anyone 3 years younger than you is a baby, anyone 3 years older than you is an adult that you look up to and you know you will become one day.
At 14 you don't understand it all but for some reason you think you do.
This is 14. This is me. Now.
