Climate change is one of if not the biggest threat to humanity itself. Carbon Dioxide levels have been the highest is over four hundred thousand years. This change in greenhouse gases are harming the atmosphere and making our climate warmer since the industrial revolution. The 10 hottest years on record have occurred since 2002. Sea levels have risen over 8 inches since the 20th century and projected to rise over 3 or more feet at the end of the 21st century leaving our beaches, cities, and icecaps all at risk. Eleven of the 15 largest populated cities are on the coast, some include New York of the Unites Stated and Tokyo of Japan. Climate Change is a problem that affects all of us and needs to be stopped.
Canada spans 9.9 million square kilometers and even some parts extend up and into the arctic circle, We are home to hundreds and hundreds of glaciers spanning the whole nation. Canada is home to some of the last pure bear and salmon habitat left in the world today. All of these are and will be at risk to climate change if we don't do something about it. We are working with the world to create a functioning low carbon, climate withstandable economy. Canada has recently attended the Paris climate conference to help come up with a solution for the overwhelming problem of climate change.
We have been working with the United Nations Conference on Climate Change for many years now to help come up with a solid solution. No set solution/law has been in effect about climate change across nations. Most of Canada's power comes from green and renewable power sources that we have little to no carbon footprint. We are currently implementing more and more green sources to better improve our energy system and the environment.
Canada would like like to propose a solution to this threat to our world and our people, climate change. We propose to have the top half of carbon emitting countries inspected by a certified united nations specialist every year. This specialist will inspect the CEPP or carbon emissions per person. If this number is too high they will be notified and if they have not improved since their last checkup consequences will follow.
