We could not record him as he was not comfortable doing so. We took notes while we interviewed him. Here are some bullet points.
Anthony
Interview went something like this (not word for word)...
Tait: Excuse me sir, sorry to bother you but can I please ask you a few questions? We’re with High Tech High, a local high school and we’ve been tasked with interviewing members of the community.
Anthony: Yeah of course.
Tait: I’m Tait, good to meet you.
Anthony: I’m Anthony.
Carter: I’m Carter. Nice to meet you.
Tait: First off I’d like to ask you how you’re doing today.
Anthony: I’m doing well, I really like this weather.
Tait: Ah yes, I do too. I see you’re on a college campus, I'm assuming you're a student?
Anthony: Yes I am a student.
Carter: What is your biggest struggle in college?
Anthony: Definitely procrastination, I’ve been procrastinating my entire life.
Tait: What year of college and what are you studying?
Anthony: This is my second year and I am studying history.
Tait: Excellent, what kind of history interests you most?
Anthony: Ancient history, specifically ancient hebrew history. Also American history, I’m fascinated by US history.
Carter: Wow. Why do you find history so interesting?
Anthony: I feel like we can learn from it, it is something that impacts us today.
Tait: I agree entirely.
Carter: What has impacted you that you have learned from history?
Anthony: I can’t say specifically, I just generally really enjoy it.
Tait: You said ancient hebrew history and I see the cross around your neck, I doubt that’s a coincidence. Would you feel comfortable talking about that.
Anthony: Oh yeah of course. I’m Christian and I follow the religion diligently.
Tait: Would you feel comfortable detailing your religious past?
Anthony: Yeah sure. I grew up going to church, my family encouraged me to go.
Tait: Have you always known you were Christian?
Anthony: Not until high school. I never felt like I found god, or he had any effect on me. I felt as if I was just being forced into something I didn’t want to be part of. There was a Christian camp during my 10th grade summer and I went solely to hang out with my friends. When I got there I knew that I couldn’t be there for my friends, I had to be there to connect with god. He made himself known to me. I left my home with my friends, but I came back home with god. Now I just want to live for him and in his light. I want to honor him through every action.
Tait: That’s an excellent outlook on life, I’m really glad to hear you could find something like that at such a young age.
Anthony: Yeah, it really changed everything, it motivated me to do great things.
Carter: How do you think this affects your day to day actions?
Anthony: Ever since then I knew that I wanted to live everyday for god. I became a better person to honor him. He took my life into his hands.
Carter: If you could give advice to anyone, lets say going into college what would it be?
Anthony: Don’t procrastinate!
Carter: Ah yes, of course.
Tait: Where are you going to take this in the future? Your education? Your religion?
Anthony: I want to be a teacher, but I’m considering joining the armed forces.
Tait: Excellent, well thanks so much for talking with us today, I'll leave you back to your work.
Carter: Thank you! Have a great day.
Anthony: Have a good one guys.
